Vodafone Germany speeds ahead with 375Mbps mobile data rates

22 Jul 2016

Vodafone Germany has premiered what it claims to be the country’s fastest single commercial mobile base station in Langenhagen near Hannover, enabling ‘Red’ tariff customers with a suitable smartphone to access mobile data rates of up to 375Mbps. The UK-backed company revealed that it will soon introduce the high speed LTE service to other base stations in the country, particularly in urban areas, by rolling out tri-carrier aggregation (3C) technology in the 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz frequency bands. All Vodafone customers on a tariff from the Red portfolio can experience the 375Mbps speeds in coverage areas, as long as they have a suitable smartphone, such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge.

Last month Vodafone launched maximum download speeds of 400Mbps over its cable network for around four million German homes. By the end of the year, around 60% of all households in Vodafone’s cable distribution area will be able to access the higher connection rates.
