ecotel, Unitymedia agree fibre-optic network partnership

15 Jul 2016

German telecoms company ecotel is set to expand the availability of its Ethernet services based on fibre-optic infrastructure through a new cooperation agreement with cable network operator Unitymedia. The long-term deal will enable ecotel to offer increased network coverage in the three federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Wurttemberg and Hesse to its business customers in the SME segment. ‘The company’s high speed fibre-optic networks make Unitymedia an important partner for ecotel, and the fibre-optic infrastructure is a substantial element of our multi-carrier concept,’ commented Peter Zils, CEO of ecotel, adding: ‘With the increased digitalisation of core processes in many enterprises, the importance of fibre-optics for the competitiveness of our customers is constantly growing. On the basis of redundant interconnection we are also capable of providing additional services through the Unitymedia cable network.’
