13 Jul 2016

Montenegrin energy utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) is interested in acquiring a stake in domestic mobile and fixed broadband network operator m:tel – part of the Telekom Srbija group – according to company sources speaking to Radio Antena M. As reported by Telecompaper, the sources added that negotiations on a share transaction are ongoing. Other talks between the utility and the network operator have centred on EPCG’s plans for ‘Smart Home’ services, but EPCG is also mulling the idea of launching its own telecoms services including mobile. m:tel expanded its presence in the fixed telecoms sector last year, largely via acquisitions of cable TV/fibre operators, whilst signing a series of agreements for the use of infrastructure with EPCG, another electricity firm Crnogorski Elektroprenosni Sistem (CGES) and local authorities.
