8 Jul 2016

Singtel has launched the country’s first over-the-top (OTT) video portal app on its 4G network, allowing users to access a range of entertainment services on the move, Light Reading reports. The city-state operator’s new app, Cast, offers a suite of movies, dramas, variety shows and kids’ edutainment from content providers such as Viu and Nickelodeon, delivered over Singtel’s 4G LTE network. The company’s mobile division is offering post-paid subscribers a choice of four content packages based on different entertainment genres, it says, each of which is priced at SGD4.90 (USD3.54) per month, noting that users can also bolt on a special 1GB data bundle for a further SGD3 per month. Mr Goh Seow Eng, managing director of Singtel’s home and consumer division, commented: ‘Our customers are huge fans of entertainment on-the-go and we know that they want greater flexibility with what they watch and also when and how they watch it. With Cast, there is entertainment for everyone and the flexibility and freedom to enjoy it anywhere, anytime. Customers can have the latest Korean dramas, Chinese soap operas, Taiwanese variety shows and kids’ edutainment at their fingertips and at a great price.’
