Mexican media giant Grupo Televisa, which is a major player in the country’s telecoms sector via its ownership of Izzi Telecom, Cablevision (TVI), Cablecom, Cablemas and Telecable, has reported net sales of MXN23.524 billion (USD1.248 billion) for the three months ended 30 June 2016, a 12.1% increase year-on-year. Cable-specific revenues increased 12.9% from MXN6.910 billion to MXN7.802 billion in the period under review. The most recent figure was equivalent to 32.2% of the group’s top-line sales for the quarter.
In operational terms, Televisa’s consolidated broadband revenue generating units (RGUs) increased to 3.258 million, while voice RGUs climbed to 2.051 million and video customers increased to 4.220 million. As such, total RGUs jumped from 8.261 million in 1Q15 to 9.529 million a year later.
