Tele2's LTE-450 enters Moscow; NetByNet buys ISP in capital

5 Jul 2016

Tele2 Russia’s ‘Skylink’ branded LTE-450 mobile broadband service has expanded its commercial network presence to Moscow city and surrounds, with the operator claiming 90% coverage of the territory of the Moscow region. The 450MHz 4G network was launched at the end of May in the Tver and Novgorod regions, before expanding to St Petersburg in June, offering modems which also support 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz LTE bands.

Also in Moscow this week, NetByNet, the fixed network operating subsidiary of cellco MegaFon, has acquired 100% of Atlant Telecom (Atlant-telecom.ru), an ISP and telephony operator based in the capital, Interfax reports. The deal follows the news in March 2016 that NetByNet had gained clearance to make purchase offers on Atlant plus 90% of Moscow operator Ekspanet.
