Singapore MVNO Circles.Life launches unlimited bonus data offer

5 Jul 2016

Liberty Wireless, which last month launched its 4G mobile service in Singapore under the brand name Circles.Life, has introduced an unlimited bonus data offer for subscribers who take part in its referral system. Under the scheme, the MVNO says that Circles.Life subscribers can earn an additional 200MB of bonus data every month for each referral. Further, the start-up – which is going toe-to-toe with the city-state’s three incumbent network operators Singtel, StarHub and M1 – says that there is no limit to how much data subscribers can earn, and that each bonus data block lasts for as long as both subscribers stay on the network. The MVNO has also opened an online shop where current and potential customers can purchase plans, and notes that subscribers can qualify for up to 2GB of data per month as a loyalty bonus, if they stay on its network for at least two years.

Circles.Life launched its 4G service in Singapore on 5 May 2016, with co-founder and director Rameez Ansar saying his firm wanted to offer ‘a completely digital experience, where a customer can sign up for the service, receive their SIM card, and even get a deal on a new phone, all through the company’s website’. The MVNO has set out its stall to target ‘a younger, tech-savvy demographic that is heavily invested in online services and connectivity’. Ansar added: ‘We think that’s about 15% to 20% of the market in Singapore, and we’re dead set to focus on them.’ Circles.Life is being hosted by M1, although it has declined to disclose more details on the specifics of the wholesale partnership agreement. The company currently offers a monthly base plan that costs SGD28 (USD21) per month. This gives users 3GB of data, 100 minutes of talk time, plus bonus data. The plan also includes services like caller number display, unlimited plan changes, 4G, roaming services [using M1’s roaming network], and unlimited WhatsApp text messages and voice calls.

The company’s co-founders – Rameez Ansar, Abhishek Gupta, and Adeel Najam – have backgrounds in technology, investment, and telecommunications, having worked for companies like Temasek Holdings, Bain Capital, and Huawei.
