5 Jul 2016

French telecoms company Numericable-SFR (SFR) has announced plans to roll out 1Gbps fibre-optic broadband services in two areas of Lyon next year. The new network is scheduled to be launched in the Meyzieu suburb in early 2017, initially covering around 15,000 homes and business, while in the Saint-Priest area, coverage of the high speed service will be increased from 7,000 homes and businesses to 21,000 by the end of that year.

SFR’s fibre-optic network is currently available to around 8.1 million homes across the country and the Altice Group subsidiary is aiming to increase coverage to twelve million households and businesses in 2017, 18 million in 2020 and 22 million in 2022.
