No bids for Kyrgyzstan's Megacom

17 Jun 2016

The auction for 100% of shares in Kyrgyzstan government-owned Alfa Telecom (Megacom) – scheduled to take place on 16 June 2016 – has been declared invalid due to lack of bids, according to news site Tazabek, citing a statement from the State Property Management Fund. TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate reported in May this year that the government had postponed the auction of its Megacom shares from a previously mooted date of 10 May 2016, setting a new deadline for applications to participate in the tender to 15 June. The change of date was reportedly to allow potential investors more time to examine the company up for privatisation.
