State-owned incumbent Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) plans to extend its Next Generation Network (NGN) to around five million new homes and businesses by March 2017, the Economic Times quotes a senior BSNL official as saying. Three million of the new lines will be in urban areas, whilst the remaining two million will be deployed in semi-urban areas. The operator is also planning to address mobile network service quality issues by installing 300 new base transceiver stations (BTS) in Himachal Pradesh.
