3 Jun 2016

Finnish multi-service operator DNA has contracted local hardware vendor Teleste to supply it with DOCSIS 3.1 technology-based cable network products, and network service expertise, for an infrastructure upgrade project in Southern Finland. With the project said to cover around 1,500 network sites in the region, Teleste confirmed in a press release that it will look after the network design and documentation for the upgrade, while also playing a role in field installations. Teleste’s DOCSIS 3.1-compatible network products will be utilised in the project, including AC3010 and AC3210 amplifiers, while other products to be used include those from the ACE and HDO product families, as well as passive devices.

Commenting on the development, Kari Ruopsa, DNA’s Head of Cable, was cited as saying: ‘We want to offer our clients an excellent customer experience as well as reliable, fast network connections for the increasing use of online services. In fixed broadband networks, DOCSIS 3.1 technology offers the best solution for meeting this objective … We are highly satisfied that this upgrade will enable us to bring our cable network customers within the reach of fixed broadband connections that are incomparable in speed and which respond to the requirements of both the current and future information society.’
