French state: no current plans to exit Orange Group

2 Jun 2016

The government of France is not currently considering a sale of its 23% stake in Orange Group, Reuters quotes Martin Vial, the head of state holding agency APE, as saying. Last week Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron said the government did not intend to remain a permanent shareholder of the former telecoms monopoly, although he added that such a divestment was not on the agenda in the short-term. At a hearing of the French parliament’s economic affairs committee, Mr Vial confirmed that ‘the state currently does not have any plan to exit Orange.’
