Shentel completes nTelos acquisition; pledges USD350m investment

10 May 2016

Regional US operator Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) has completed its acquisition of NTELOS Holdings Corporation (nTelos), a company which provides cellular services in portions of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Kentucky. Originally announced in August 2015, the transaction more than doubles Shentel’s wireless customer base and further strengthens and expands its partnership with Sprint. Shentel, which operates as a ‘Sprint Affiliate’, will be using the Sprint brand name to offer services in the former nTelos franchise area, it has confirmed.

Christopher E French, President and CEO of Shentel, commented: ‘We have committed to invest approximately USD350 million as part of the expansion of the network, and plan to add hundreds of additional coverage sites to provide an enhanced and more complete network for our customers.’
