Equipment vendor Ericsson says it is teaming up with mobile money start-up firm Trriple to develop a new managed mobile wallet service for customers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The service will provide banking and smart city solutions and will support the UAE’s Smart Government initiative, which aims to make more than 2,000 government services available via smart platforms such as mobile devices. Ericsson says the mobile wallet offering will initially target the 500,000 cellular subscribers in the country who do not have a traditional bank account, before being rolled out to the wider population.
