Verizon first quarter revenues up 0.6%; net income increases 2.1%

US mobile giant Verizon Communications has reported consolidated revenues of USD32.171 billion for the three months ended 31 March 2016, up 0.6% from USD31.984 billion in the corresponding year-earlier period. EBITDA for the three months under review edged up 0.1% year-on-year, to USD11.959 billion, while operating income dropped 0.2% to USD7.942 billion. Net income, meanwhile, increased 2.1% y-o-y, from USD4.338 billion to USD4.430 billion.

In operational terms, Verizon Wireless – the largest US mobile operator by subscribers – reported a subscriber base of 112.573 million, up from 108.582 million in 1Q15. Further, the number of LTE devices used by Verizon subscribers surged to 86.9 million, up from 71.7 million in the year-ago period.
