Vox eyes 4G expansion

21 Apr 2016

Paraguayan mobile operator Vox plans to add 130 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) to its footprint by the end of 2016, La Nacion reports, citing marketing director Fernando Maidana. The LTE network, which currently comprises 200 cell sites, offers coverage of 109 municipalities across Asuncion, Central, Alton Parana, Itapua, Misiones, Paraguari and Neembucu. Further, Maidana noted that the operator currently has around 13,000 customers using its 4G network.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Vox switched on its LTE network in December 2012, in Asuncion and the neighbouring Central Department. The network utilises spectrum in the 2100MHz/1700MHz AWS range.
