Cable TV and broadband operator UPC Poland has expanded its footprint through the acquisition of Gdansk-based operator Net-Sat Media. The purchase price was not disclosed. Services for Net-Sat Media’s existing customers will be unaffected by the buyout, though UPC has introduced new offers to entice customers onto its own tariffs. The Gdansk operator provides a range of TV, telephony and internet packages, offering peak download speeds of up to 250Mbps. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, UPC Poland claimed 1.05 million cable broadband subscribers at the end of 2015, up from 997,200 a year earlier. UPC has cable networks passing some 2.9 million Polish households in over 150 markets, including five which were added in 2015: Plock, Rzeszow, Tarnow, Nowy Sacz and Glogow.
