Telia Company, the Stockholm-based telecoms group previously known as TeliaSonera, has reported net sales of SEK20.394 billion (USD2.517 billion) for the three months ended 31 March 2016, down 0.9% from SEK20.589 billion one year earlier. EBITDA for the quarter increased 10.4% to SEK6.217 billion from SEK5.632 billion, while total net income slumped 4.9% to SEK3.911 billion from SEK4.110 billion. In terms of net income attributable to the parent company, the bottom line increased 1.4% to SEK3.766 billion. CAPEX (excluding licence and spectrum fees) for the quarter under review jumped 19.8% to SEK3.064 billion.
In operational terms, Telia reported a total of 19.863 million mobile subscriber accounts, down from 20.071 million one year earlier; the lion’s share of these were attributed to Telia’s domestic market, Sweden. Group broadband subscribers were reported at 2.583 million (up from 2.548 million), while the company’s consolidated pay-TV customer base reached 1.648 million (1.572 million). PSTN users dropped to 1.776 million (2.143 million), but VoIP customers edged up to 1.005 million (910,000).

TeleGeography notes that, on 13 April 2016 the Swedish Companies Registration Office approved the name change of the company from TeliaSonera AB to Telia Company AB.
