PCCW Global to construct new HK data centre

20 Apr 2016

PCCW Global has entered into an agreement with Singapore-based Keppel Data Centres to co-develop a new international carrier exchange facility in Hong Kong which will be operational in the fourth quarter. The exchange will be situated in the same building as the Hong Kong Point of Presence (PoP) for the new 25,000km Asia-Africa-Europe-1 (AAE-1) submarine cable, which will connect Asia, the Middle East, East Africa and Europe when it launches towards the end of this year. The building is also served by PCCW Global’s extensive backhaul network, which will link the international carrier exchange to a number of submarine cable landing stations and serve as a gateway to mainland China.
