TeliaSonera rebrands international carrier division to Telia Carrier, expands PoPs

19 Apr 2016

TeliaSonera International Carrier has rebranded itself to Telia Carrier, in a move which appears to be in line with a recent proposal by its parent group to drop the ‘Sonera’ part of the TeliaSonera name. In a tongue-in-cheek press release, Telia Carrier highlights a ‘massive 61% saving in the time it takes to read, write, or say our name.’

Telia Carrier notes that it has also established a new PoP in Montreal, Canada, providing wholesale IP transit, Ethernet and IPX services for carriers, content and cloud providers. Montreal complements its existing presence in Toronto, and continues a strategy to expand in North America. The company enables worldwide connectivity by connecting more than 200 PoPs across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East (including 62 PoPs in North America alone).
