MTC Namibia, Huawei treble LTE speeds

15 Apr 2016

China’s Huawei Technologies and Namibian cellco MTC yesterday (14 April 2016) held a launch event for LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) carrier aggregation (CA) technology to deliver commercial mobile data speeds three times faster than MTC’s existing LTE service, which was launched in May 2012. Correspondingly, MTC’s website is now advertising its Netman-branded LTE services as ‘Netman 4G Advanced – Now Advanced to 3X Faster’. As reported by xinhuanet.com, the launch of LTE-A was accompanied by a ‘4.5G’ live demo, attended by Namibia’s President Hage Geingob and several ministers in the capital Windhoek. Huawei has been one of MTC’s technical suppliers for the past eight years.
