The European Investment Bank (EIB) has agreed a EUR20 million (USD22.7 million) loan with the Maltese fixed and mobile operator GO to help fund its 4G mobile and fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network rollouts. The telco says the project is part of an ongoing multi-year investment programme under which it is strengthening its infrastructure, introducing new technologies and improving operations to help Malta meet EU Digital Agenda targets. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, GO had almost 80,000 broadband subscribers and over 213,000 mobile customers at the end of 2015. It reported revenues of EUR123.7 million for full-year 2015, up 1.2% year-on-year.
