Huawei picked to enhance Zain Kuwait B2B services

29 Mar 2016

The Kuwait Times reports that the country’s biggest telecommunications operator Zain Kuwait is teaming up with Huawei of China to develop its mobile business-to-business (B2B) services across the country. Under the strategic cooperation agreement, the two firms will work together to enhance the telco’s capabilities in this area, noting in their memorandum of understanding (MoU) that ‘the digitisation of the local economy is opening up new business opportunities, and that telecom operators will play a major role in supporting a hyper connected and intelligent digital world’. As part of the agreement, they will explore a number of key potential new areas, such as services relating to public safety, industry Internet of Things (IoT) applications and emergency communication services. The pair will leverage Zain’s mobile network to jointly test technologies such as narrowband IPT (NB-IOT) – a technology being standardised by the 3GPP standards body specifically designed for IoT – and LTE-integrated trunking to realise these new ambitions, they said.
