Swedish telecoms group TeliaSonera and UK-listed investment vehicle Zegona Communications both confirmed on Friday (18 March 2016) that they are in exclusive talks over a possible offer for TeliaSonera’s Spanish mobile subsidiary Yoigo. Zegona was established with the objective of acquiring businesses in the European telecoms, media and technology sector with a ‘Buy-Fix-Sell’ strategy to deliver attractive shareholder returns, and it made its first acquisition in August 2015 with the takeover of Spain’s Telecable, which provides cable-based quad-play services in the Asturias region.
