China Mobile, the country’s largest cellular operator by subscribers, has reported operating revenue of CNY668.3 billion (USD102.5 billion) for the twelve-month period ended 31 December 2015, representing a 2.6% increase year-on-year. Telecoms service revenues comprised CNY584.1 billion of the total, down 1.3% on an annual basis. Further, the company’s data revenue exceeded its revenue from voice services for the first time, accounting for 52.0% of all sales in the year under review. EBITDA for the year under review totalled CNY240.0 billion, a drop of 0.7% y-o-y, while profit attributable to equity shareholders dropped 0.6% to CNY108.5 billion.
In operational terms, the mobile giant’s subscriber base edged up 2.4% to 826 million. China Mobile also claimed a total of 300 million LTE customers, and a 4G network that comprised 1.1 million base stations.
