Tigo expands LTE coverage to Moshi

Millicom Tanzania (Tigo) has extended its 4G LTE services to the municipality of Moshi, in the Kilimanjaro region, adding to existing 4G coverage in Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Tanga, Arusha and Dodoma. Tigo has previously noted that it invested USD100 million per year in 2013 and 2014 in order to expand its network coverage, installing a total of 1,400 base transceiver stations (BTS) in the period; meanwhile it increased this expenditure to USD120 million in 2015, deploying 840 new BTS.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, Tigo launched LTE technology in April 2015 and expects its network coverage to reach all regions of the country by the end of this year.
