Omantel teams up with Ericsson for network enhancement

Omantel, the Sultanate’s incumbent fixed and mobile operator, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ericsson to enhance network capabilities and services in line with the company’s new transformation strategy. Under the terms of the agreement, Omantel and Ericsson will form joint teams to collaborate on four key areas of network improvement, focusing on: the deployment of intelligent network upgrades and enhancements, the development of innovative fixed and mobile products and services, the expansion of Omantel’s product portfolio, and the joint evaluation of potential areas for future collaboration.

Commenting on the MoU, Thomas Pittschieler, Transformation Executive Officer for Omantel, said: ‘This is the first of several high profile agreements, being finalised in the near future. In order for us to achieve our strategic goals, we are committed to innovate by enhancing infrastructure and pioneering technologies that increase our network coverage and capabilities. This partnership with Ericsson allows us to boost our network, catering to the ever-increasing mobile and data requirements of our customers.’
