Apax Partners of France and Belgium’s Fortino Capital have completed the previously announced acquisition of Melita, the Maltese telecoms company has confirmed. As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, on 8 December 2015 an agreement was reached between Melita’s previous shareholders – GMT Communications Partners, MC Venture Partners, Blackrock Communications and the Gasan Group – and the new investors, for the buy-out of the full service telco.
The acquisition represents the second deal that Apax has completed so far in 2016; in January the Paris-based private equity firm sealed the dual acquisition of Portuguese telecoms firms Cabovisao and Oni Communications, from Netherlands-based Altice Group.
