Following its recent acquisition of US cableco Suddenlink, Altice USA has reaffirmed its commitment to its new subsidiary’s ‘Operation GigaSpeed’ deployment programme. Building on work started in 2015, Altice plans to offer 1Gbps connectivity in more than 250 Suddenlink-served communities by the end of 2016, or more than 60% of its total footprint. During the same timeframe, 70% of Suddenlink’s broadband customers will gain access to a 400Mbps service. Additional GigaSpeed deployments are expected in 2017, rounding out the nearly USD250 million total investment supporting the programme.
Charles Stewart, Altice USA’s co-president and CFO, commented: ‘Investment in infrastructure is at the heart of the Altice business model. In order to offer the best services and speeds to our customers, we are investing more than USD4 billion per year in our networks around the world. Forward-thinking programmes like Operation GigaSpeed fit perfectly with this commitment’.
