16 Feb 2016

Telefonica Colombia (Movistar), has enlisted Swedish telecoms vendor Ericsson to deploy what it claims is the country’s ‘first commercial virtual network for voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) services’. The vendor says that the contract will see it become Movistar’s sole supplier, and includes the deployment of its Ericsson Cloud Manager software, Ericsson Cloud Execution Environment kit and virtual network function IMS core. Implementation, integration and support services are also included in the deal. Hernan Felipe Cucalon, CTO of Telefonica Colombia, commented: ‘Telefonica is aiming for a robust, carrier-grade, fast time-to-market launch and thus speeding new services to our customers’.
