Angola Telecom to restructure, report says

9 Feb 2016

State-owned fixed line operator Angola Telecom will undergo restructuring, under a government plan to transfer the telco’s management responsibilities to a third party and sell assets, according to a high-level decision cited by Portuguese-language newspaper Lusa, as reported by Telecompaper. A presidential order had previously created an inter-ministerial commission responsible for conducting the restructuring process, which is expected to finalise details of the mooted asset sale within three months. The proposed management partner for Angola Telecom must implement a strategy aimed at halting the loss of market share, increasing revenues and diversifying the operator’s service portfolio, among other goals. Further details of the management partner and the wider restructuring programme are expected to be defined within four months.
