Tele2 Croatia launches 4G with 90% coverage

2 Feb 2016

Tele2 Croatia has switched on a nationwide 4G LTE network, covering 90% of the population at launch. Services offering peak download speeds of up to 150Mbps are available to both pre-paid and post-paid users, across all tariffs. Tele2 says it currently provides 2G voice services to 99% of Croatia’s population, while also claiming 97% 3G data coverage and now 90% 4G coverage. Tele2 Group’s president and CEO, Allison Kirkby, says that the Croatian launch means the Swedish-owned group will have 4G networks live in all of its active markets once the ongoing merger of Tele2 Kazakhstan and local rival Altel is completed. Tele2 is the smallest of Croatia’s mobile operators in subscriber terms, claiming around 18% of the market’s five million users at the end of September 2015, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database.
