The Netherlands-based Altice Group says it plans to invest DOP6.2 billion (USD138 million) this year in its operations in the Dominican Republic, where it offers mobile services under the Orange brand and fixed services as Tricom. Part of the money will go on expanding Orange’s 4G LTE networks to reach all cities, while its 3G footprint will be enlarged to cover more than 90% of the country’s population. Meanwhile, according to a report from Dominican Today, the firm will also be deploying new fibre-optic infrastructure to 200,000 homes, enabling Tricom to offer 100Mbps internet access, HD TV services and voice telephony.
