To Infiniti and beyond: start-up creates buzz with US, Caribbean TD-LTE rollout

28 Jan 2016

Oklahoma-based start-up Infiniti Broadband has selected Chinese vendor Huawei to deliver end-to-end LTE network solutions in underserved major markets, medium-sized cities and rural areas in the US and the Caribbean. Huawei will provide a complete time division-LTE (TD-LTE) solution, including radio equipment, network power capabilities, routers, switches and customer premises equipment (CPE). The vendor will begin deploying its services in five selected test markets in April-May 2016, with the deployments expected to be completed by mid-year.

While little is known about Infiniti Broadband, TeleGeography notes that its President and CEO, Johnie Johnson, has previously held positions with the likes of AT&T, SunCom Wireless, Nex-Tech Wireless and US Cellular, as well as serving with the Competitive Carriers Association (formerly Rural Cellular Association).
