TDC Group reveals new strategy; embarks on strategic review of Swedish unit

TDC Group has revealed a new three-year strategy (2016-2018), which will focus on improved connectivity, better offerings and enhanced customer experience. In its domestic market, the group will unify its premium consumer household offerings by merging the TDC brand into YouSee, as of 1 July 2016. The initiative will involve the full integration of the two brands, including combining IT platforms and backhaul; merging channels, go-to-market-strategy and branding; and offering an integrated portfolio of services. The adoption of one unified household brand will simplify the operating model, optimise investment and marketing spend and reduce complexity and duplication, TDC said. In addition, the group is also aiming to accelerate the upgrade of its HFC network, with plans to provide download speeds of 1Gbps to half of the Danish households by 2018, 100Mbps to 70% of households and 10Mbps to ‘virtually any address in Denmark.’

In its international markets, TDC’s newly acquired Norwegian brand Get will introduce its own 1Gbps services in the country and will expand its HFC footprint into new local markets. Further, Get is aiming to launch an MVNO service – Get Mobile – in 2016, which will also lead to the introduction of the company’s first triple-play offer. In regards to Sweden, TDC pointed out that it is currently conducting a strategic review of its local operation, which ‘may or may not’ lead to the disposal of TDC Sverige. TDC concluded a strategic review of its TDC Hosting division (started in April 2015), with the group opting to retain ownership of the business provider, going forward.
