Angola’s Movicel scrapping CDMA in March

27 Jan 2016

Angola’s second largest mobile operator Movicel aims to migrate all of its remaining CDMA network users to other platforms by 8 March 2016, as it concentrates on its newer GSM/UMTS/LTE networks. As reported by Telecompaper, Movicel stresses that the CDMA migration will be done at no cost to users, whilst the move is in compliance with directives from regulator Angolan Institute of Communications (Instituto Angolano das Comunicacoes, INACOM) which intends to refarm former CDMA frequencies, potentially as part of the process of migrating analogue TV to digital terrestrial television (DTT).
