US telecoms giant Verizon Communications has reported revenues of USD34.254 billion for the three months ended 31 December 2015, representing a 3.2% increase year-on-year. Operating income for the period under review reached USD9.744 billion, with Verizon reporting net income of USD5.513 billion for the fourth quarter. For full-year 2015, Verizon’s revenues totalled USD131.620 billion, an increase of 3.6% on an annualised basis. Net income for the twelve-month period was USD18.375 billion.
In operational terms, mobile unit Verizon Wireless reported 112.108 million retail connections, up 3.6% y-o-y. Of this figure, the bulk – 106.528 million – were post-paid accounts. Further, the company reported 4.4 million LTE device activations in the three months ended 31 December 2015, to take its 4G user base to 84.4 million. In its fixed line business, Verizon reported that its total number of voice connections dropped 7.1% y-o-y to 18.387 million, while broadband connections edged up 0.2%, to 9.228 million. Of the latter figure, 7.034 million were ‘Fios’-branded fibre subscriptions, up 6.3% y-o-y. Finally, the firm’s IPTV user base climbed 3.2%, to reach 5.827 million at end-2015.
