Telekom Deutschland, the domestic fixed and mobile unit of German telecoms giant Deutsche Telekom (DT), has revealed that it rolled out its VDSL Vectoring network to a further 4.6 million households in 2015, enabling customers in the upgraded areas to benefit from maximum speeds of 100Mbps/40Mbps (down/uplink). During the last year Telekom laid a total of 10,000km of fibre-optic cable in Germany, bringing the overall length of its domestic network to 400,000km. The firm says it is investing around EUR4 billion (USD4.4 billion) annually in the development of its operations, with the aim of increasing Vectoring coverage to 80% of German households (around 24 million) by 2018, as well as providing 4G LTE mobile data coverage to 95% of the population by the same date.
