UPC snaps up another Swiss network

19 Jan 2016

UK-backed Swiss cableco UPC Cablecom has acquired HFC infrastructure in Murifeld-Wittigkofen from Uberbauungsgenossenschaft Murifeld-Wittigkofen (UGB-MW) for an undisclosed price. The sale was effective from 1 January 2016 and is the latest in a long line of acquisitions where UPC has taken over infrastructure from its former network partners. The extent of the network was not reported, although UPC did note that the acquisition will affect around 1,050 customers.

Ivan Nash Vila, UPC’s CFO commented on the takeover in a statement: ‘UPC Cablecom has enjoyed a successful partnership with UGB-MW over many years, and so we are very pleased that, as the leading provider of telecommunications and entertainment, we are now able to offer the customers in Murifeld-Wittigkofen all of our innovative products and services, following the acquisition of the cable network.’
