Telekom, Orange Romania seal fixed/mobile network access agreement

23 Dec 2015

Orange Romania, the country’s largest cellco by users, has signed a wholesale network agreement with quadruple-play fixed and mobile network operator Telekom Romania, which gives the latter roaming access to Orange’s 4G LTE network on a national basis, while allowing Orange to offer fixed services via Telekom’s nationwide local access infrastructure, according to Romanian business newspaper ZF.ro quoting ‘several sources in the communications industry’. The network access contracts were signed in early December after around two years of closed-doors negotiations; ZF first wrote about the negotiations in February 2015.

Orange’s LTE network currently covers around 70% of Romania’s population, compared to Telekom’s LTE coverage of approximately 35%.
