Tele2 Lithuania unveils 4G++ technology in Vilnius

23 Dec 2015

Tele2 Lithuania has announced the commercial availability of so-called ‘4G++’ technology in capital city Vilnius. The platform, which aggregates spectrum in the 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz frequency bands, supports downlink transmission speeds of up to 300Mbps. 4G++ infrastructure is currently limited to three base transceiver stations (BTS) in the capital, and only available to end-users via a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge + handset. Company CEO Petras Masiulis commented: ‘Customers are welcome to try out the technology of the future, which is a novelty not only in Lithuania, but also in much of the world’.

Tele2’s standard 4G network currently offers coverage of 90% of the Lithuanian population, the cellco notes. The LTE network went live in March 2013.
