27 Nov 2015

Numericable-SFR, the French unit of Netherlands-based international telecoms group Altice, has officially launched maximum download connections speeds of 800Mbps over its fibre-optic network in Nantes. Around 105,000 homes and businesses are currently able to benefit from the new high speed fixed broadband service, while the company revealed that it will also expand its cellular LTE-A network to Nantes by the end of the year. The development underscores Numericable-SFR’s ongoing strategic focus on fibre-optic technology; the firm aims to pass twelve million homes by the end of 2017, rising to 18 million homes passed by the end of 2020 and 22 million by the end of 2022. As of 30 September 2015 Numericable-SFR’s fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network passed around 7.4 million homes.
