Russian 2600MHz bid applications open 1-Dec; auction follows in February

26 Nov 2015

Russia’s Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, IT & Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) has announced that it will accept applications for participation in an auction for 4G mobile broadband frequencies in the 2570MHz-2620MHz range from 1 December to 29 December. The electronic auction will include 82 lots, with bidding to be held in February 2016 in three phases – 9 February (‘lot number 1’), 11 February (‘lots 2-41’) and 17 February (‘lots 42-82’). Minimum bidding prices vary widely per region, while Roskomnadzor says that a 2600MHz licence covering the entire territory of the Russian Federation except for the city of Moscow, the Moscow Region, the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol will cost a minimum RUB2.939 billion (USD44.8 million). The auction follows last month’s sale of technology-neutral 1800MHz licences in various regions.
