TTCL transforming fixed and mobile access networks with Alca-Lu

18 Nov 2015

Alcatel-Lucent has signed a three-year frame agreement with Tanzania Telecommunications Company Ltd (TTCL) under which it will modernise the operator’s IP/MPLS and optical transport networks, with the aim of meeting the growing demand from fixed and mobile customers for efficient, high speed data services in preparation for the launch of 4G LTE, a press release from the French-US vendor states. New technology will be deployed nationwide, initially in the major cities of Dodoma, Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Morogoro, and Mwanza, with this first phase to be completed in December 2015. Alcatel-Lucent says it is deploying its IP routing and 100Gbps agile optical networking (AON) DWDM technology to converge TTCL’s fixed and mobile access on to one network, with unified management across the IP and optical layers for improved efficiencies.
