AT&T launches Gigabit broadband in Jacksonville

4 Nov 2015

AT&T has extended its GigaPower fibre-optic network to residential and small business customers in parts of Jacksonville, Florida. Going forward, the telco plans to make the Gigabit service available in nearby St Augustine in the first half of 2016. The deployment means that AT&T now offers 1Gbps downlink speeds in selected parts of 18 metropolitan areas. Ultimately, AT&T expects to cover more than 14 million residential and commercial locations with its all-fibre network; around one million properties are expected to be covered by end-2015.
