Pelephone submits bid for Golan Telecom

2 Nov 2015

Bezeq subsidiary Pelephone has submitted an offer to buy rival cellco Golan Telecom, according to reports from Reuters. While Bezeq was said to have confirmed the offer in a statement to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, no financial or other details of the offer were disclosed.

Meanwhile, the rumoured talks between Golan and Altice Group, parent company of Israel’s HOT Mobile, regarding a possible merger (as reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate last week), have been downplayed by a spokesperson for HOT, who Reuters has cited as saying: ‘Altice and HOT are not negotiating to acquire Golan Telecom. The company is focusing on further growing its existing business in Israel.’
