New Zealand-based wholesale network operator Chorus has awarded Alcatel-Lucent a five-year managed services contract designed to improve cost effectiveness and end user satisfaction. Alcatel-Lucent says it will deploy proactive and real time monitoring and analysis tools to ensure the delivery of consistently high service quality for customers. The services will be led from a new network operation centre in Hamilton. Chorus owns New Zealand’s nationwide copper infrastructure and is currently deploying fibre-optic networks around the country as part of the government-backed Ultra Fast Broadband (UFB) project.
