Three UK increases 4G speeds with 1800MHz boost

20 Oct 2015

Hutchison 3G UK, which provides services under the ‘Three’ banner, has announced that its 4G download speeds are set to increase by up to 50% on a nationwide basis as part of an ongoing rollout programme. As part of the upgrade, an additional 5MHz block of 1800MHz spectrum has already been activated at all sites in Northern England, the West Midlands, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The rest of the UK, including London, will receive access to higher downlink speeds following the completion of the initiative. Three notes that the deployment will also help to improve reliability by adding much needed capacity in congested areas. According to TeleGeography the enhancement follows the launch of Three’s ‘4G Super-Voice’ VoLTE service last month.
