RRT approves terms for GSM spectrum auction

20 Oct 2015

Lithuania’s Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT) has approved the procedure and conditions for its planned auction of spectrum in the 880MHz-915MHz and 925MHz-960MHz paired frequency ranges, as well as the 1710MHz-1785MHz and 1805MHz-1880MHz paired bands. Following the conclusion of a consultation with the public and industry stakeholders, the regulator has set a starting price of EUR10 million (USD11.3 million) for each block of spectrum, which will go under the hammer on 6 January 2016. The country’s three existing mobile network operators (MNOs) Omnitel, Tele2 and Bite Lithuania have the right to use the frequencies for wireless telephony and data services until 31 October 2017, and the new licences will be valid from 1 November 2017 to 31 October 2032.
