Cambodia’s Council of Ministers has approved a new draft telecommunications law, which is aimed at enhancing the regulation of the sector and improving service quality. The Cambodia Daily reports that the government has yet to officially publish a copy of the new 114-article draft law, which has been under development by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications Cambodia (MPTC) for a number of years. ‘The main purpose of the law is to ensure the quality and effective use of infrastructure, networks and telecommunications services, encourage telecommunications investment, protect consumers and earn national revenue,’ a statement from the Council of Ministers read.
